Russia’s S7 bids for 24 international routes of Transaero
MOSCOW, Oct 13 (PRIME) -- Russia’s S7 group, which includes Siberia Airlines and Globus Airlines, has bid to carry out flights of troubled airline Transaero on 24 international routes, Natalya Filyova, chairwoman of the S7’s board of directors, told reporters on Tuesday.
“We have filed a bid for 24 directions. We want to have an honest market. If everything goes to Aeroflot, it may have a negative impact on tariffs and, in the end, on passengers. I know that the government does not want to give everything to Aeroflot, they think that this should be fair. Other companies also filed bids,” she said.
The Federal Air Transport Agency declined to comment. A source in one of airlines told PRIME Aeroflot has bid for 56 out of 154 international routes of Transaero.
Transaero has failed to service its debts, which amounted to about 250 billion rubles, including leasing liabilities. The troubled airline has stopped sales of tickets. Its passengers are carried by other airlines, including Aeroflot, UTair, VIM Airlines and Ural Airlines.
